Re: What a very UKRM way...
Not if you are low and slow. You need height to autorotate, you can
convert speed into height but low and slow is a fatal combination
if the donkey quits.
Fizzicks innit.

There's something funny about this sentence, but I can't quite put my
finger on it.

Hurrah. I can't explain why, but I'm really glad you've decided to go.

But you can gyro a heli to the ground.
Personally, I'd want that engine lift and the power in the blades to
be able to push out if needed. YMMV
And yes I agree you could probably build a gyro with that amount of
lift, but that fact that no-one yet has done it seems to indicate to

Re: Things you probably should know, but don't.
Your're right. I took the bike home today at lunchtime. Lovely it was,
sun shining, bike running on song and tyres sticking on corners ....
Then I went back to work :(

Remember, then, that Germany was totally defeated, occupied and split in
two after WWII...

yeah same here

Re: Things you probably should know, but don't.
But they don't, the bucket rotates, otherwise you get the cams digging
into one part of the bucket. Certainly on Alfas, that have a split
cam, one lobe was fractionally higher than the other to make sure the
bucket rotated. It didn't work though, and the boxer cam buckets wore
like bastards. But they were pioneers in this respect. [1]

Re: What a shit biking year.
Me too but mine was a Chipmunk whilst in the ATC and the instructor said
similar :)

Re: What a shit biking year.
Blimey. I made mine, I think, when I was seven. BOAC 707 to Hong Kong.
It's possible I had a brief flight in a four-seat light aircraft
belonging to a friend of my parents before that, though; I can't
recall the order they happened in.

Re: Old boy with a sense of humour
Well, I think it's more likely that each nation or national group has
its own slant on history. You'd only get history written by the
victors if the losers were totally annihilated or totally subdued.

Re: Repeat after me: "I must not pop wheelies in Mayfair"

Mark 2 Norton Commando, side stand about as long as Tower Bridge and
twice as strong, Oh and it wasn't mine! Cousin nearly killed me, the
black eye lasted for weeks.
